Legs are blown.

Judson, Richie, Phil, Scott, Joel, and Houston

One of the few files we all got to see each other during the race at
VAN TRANSITION. This handoff of team units later proved more difficult
than we thought.

Team director in rare directing moment

rumored to be faked for the camera as little leadership was known to
have been present after dark. hahaha

Derek waiting for his first transition

This was the first of the hardest set of legs for our team. Derek
plowed through like a mad chinese wild boar.  (whatever that is)

Road kills

We are catching teams that started before us. Probably 420 teams headed out before us. We have passed over 180 and been passed by 40 or so. Ahead of schedule but sore and feet hurting. Phil, Scott, and chip made amazing first and second runs. Joel is plain fast. Van two is mowing down the field like a machine. They are precision in their navigation logistics which turns out to be a significant part of this race.

Once again, we dive into an adventure with no experience. That's our mantra. Everyone we talk to has non runner drivers or helpers. They live nearby know the roads have just a couple of newbies on their team.

Not us.

I think we are lost. No cell service.

Comfortably numb

Hey Charles. You and John are here in spirit. The thirteenth man. We just woke up from 1.5 hour sleep on a basketball gym. Most of us elected for sleep over shower/sleep.

We taking shortcuts thru back woods Oregon trying to intercept van two at checkpoint 22 by 5:50am pst. Houston dressing in car stinky shirts reflector clunky lights headlights. Ibupropheb passed around downed with gatoraid monster drinks cracked. Time for third quarter.

No contact with first van. Going into no cell area.... Hope to pop out the other end before noon and show these hippie west coasters what redneck rampage means.

I'm on deck for 5.3 Miley then then fourth leg closing 7.2 mile to the sea.

Deep tracks playing pink Floyd. Gotta go,...

Gee. You look like you just victimized 11 runners. Congratulations on
your conquest. And not a bead of sweat.

C'mon Shawn, work the numbers.

Smiling before his second leg of pain?
True grit.
